Bernard Dunstan Biography
Painter, draughtsman and teacher.
Born in Teddington, Middlesex.
Dunstan is a painter on a small scale brought up in the Sickert-Degas-Vuillard tradition, who developed a keen following for his intimate interiors with nude and semi-draped figures and views of Venice.
Dunstan studied at Byam Shaw School of Art, 1939, then Slade School of Fine Art, 1939-41. From 1946-9 taught at West of England School of Art in Bristol, Camberwell School of Art, 1950-64, City and Guilds of London Art School, 1064-9.
His solo exhibitions include shows at Roland, Browse and Delbanco, Agnew.
Dunstan is a member of N.E.A.C., R.W.A. (being its president in 1979) and was elected R.A. in 1968.
His work is held in public and private collections including Arts Council.
